Body is composed of about 60% water. The functions of these bodily fluids include digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature.

Why is water necessary

  1. Prevents dehydration: Dehydration causes many other problems:
  • If the body is not sufficiently hydrated, the cells will draw water from the bloodstream, thus pressurizing and burdening the heart.
  • Our kidneys clean our blood. When we are dehydrated the blood flow to our kidneys is reduced which makes our bodies think they are low on water. They will thus react by telling the brain to constrict veins and arteries, which will increase the blood pressure.
  • Even mild dehydration prevents the kidneys from effectively purifying the blood. When this happens, some of the kidney's workload is passed on to the liver and other organs, and may cause them to be severely stressed.
  • Minor health conditions such as constipation, dry and itchy skin, acne, nosebleeds, urinary tract infections, coughs, sneezing, sinus problems and headache may develop as a consequence.
  1. Water Helps Maintain Normal Bowel Function. Adequate hydration keeps things flowing along your gastrointestinal tract and prevents constipation. When you don't get enough fluid, the colon pulls water from stools to maintain hydration -- and the result is constipation.
  2. Detoxification: Nothing supports the body’s cleansing and elimination capacity like Water. It is the most ancient and potent natural detox aid ever known to mankind. Whether by drinking it, sweating or bathing in it, water has been used to expel toxins, and restore health. Infusing the body with water will immediately stimulate your kidneys, liver and digestive systems (primary detox organs) functions. It will boost your metabolism, which in turn accelerates toxin and fat elimination.
  3. Blood pressure: As blood is mainly comprised of water. Excessive salt consumption can adversely affect blood pressure, sodium can be flushed out of the body by drinking clean purified water daily. So, drinking a healthy amount of water each day can maintain a healthy heart.
  4. Cholesterol: Drinking water can thin the blood, making in a natural way to help the blood pump more smoothly. Drinking plenty of water will keep your blood ways clean and eliminate excess build-up of cholesterol waste from the body. The quality of the drinking water can also have an effect on our cholesterol levels. Animal studies have shown that chlorine in drinking water can raise levels of plasma cholesterol. Most tap water is chlorinated. Therefore, it is a good idea to install a quality water filtration system that can remove chlorine and other harmful chemicals from your drinking water.
  5. Weight loss: Water suppresses your appetite, so you don't eat as much. Drinking plenty of water also prevents fluid retention, because your body won't try to retain water if it's getting enough. Drinking water also helps your body burn stored fat. If you're not drinking enough water, your liver will be forced to help kidneys detoxify your body. When you drink plenty of water, kidneys don't need any extra help, so liver will be able to metabolize stored fat more efficiently.
  6. Food with high water content tends to look larger, its higher volume requires more chewing, and it is absorbed more slowly by the body, which helps you feel full. Water-rich foods include fruits, vegetables, broth-based soups, oatmeal, and beans.
  7. Best anti aging treatment– Drinking water hydrates skin cells and plumps them up, making your face look younger. It also flushes out impurities and improves circulation and blood flow thus moisturizing your skin, keeping it fresh, soft, glowing and smooth. It also dilutes fine lines and wrinkles.
  8. Increases Energy & Relieves Fatigue– Since your brain is mostly water, drinking it helps you think, focus and concentrate better and be more alert. It keeps your energy levels high by keeping you hydrated.
  9. Improves cognitive performance and removes stress: Your brain needs a lot of oxygen in order to function at optimum levels. Drinking plenty of water ensures that your brain gets all the oxygen it needs. Keeping yourself hydrated can improve your levels of cognitive performance by as much as 30% and removes stress.
  10. Prevents Cramps & Sprains- Proper hydration helps keep joints lubricated and muscles more elastic so joint pain is less likely.
  11. Natural Headache Remedy– Helps relieve and prevent headaches (migraines & back pains too!) which are commonly caused by dehydration.
  12. Water reduces chance of kidney stones: Water dilutes the salts and minerals in your urine that form the solid crystals known as kidney stones. Kidney stones can't form in diluted urine.
  13. Hydration is important during exercise: Proper hydration improves the quality of workout, reduces fatigue, reduces recovery time, and increases your level of satisfaction, it is especially important to hydrate yourself before as well as after your workout session. You lose water while you exercise even without heavy perspiration.

How much water is needed?

A general recommendation is “Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day." That's about 1.9 litres. However it depends on your size, weight, your activity level and where you live. You should try to drink between half an ounce to an ounce of water for each pound you weigh, every day.” For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, that would be 75 to 150 ounces of water a day. If you’re living in a hot climate and exercising a lot, you’d be on the higher end of that range; if you’re in a cooler climate and mostly sedentary, you’d need less.
